Total Mobility Scheme
The Total Mobility scheme is a national scheme which supports people who are unable to use public transport to travel, all or some of the time.
In Auckland, those who are eligible get a subsidised rate on contracted taxis for door to door transport, and an accessible concession loaded on a Total Mobility AT HOP card used to pay for discounted travel on public transport. Total Mobility provides eligible customers with a 65% discount on taxi fares, up to a maximum fare value of $72 per trip. For trips over $72, Auckland Transport provides a maximum subsidy of $46.80, with passengers paying the remaining fare of $25.20 and any fare over $72.
Eligibility criteria for the Total Mobility card
If you struggle to get to and from the bus stop, get on and off a bus or travel safely without confusion, you may be eligible.
It may be that you have medical conditions that impacts your ability to safely complete stages of a journey on public transport.
Communicare provides this service which involves an appointment to assess your eligibility, and we offer this service in Five Total Mobility Assessment locations:

Appointments are necessary for this service, there are no walk-in appointments and there is often a wait time.

The process
Our Assessors run through the criteria set by Auckland Transport ('AT'), take the ID photo and a fee is payable and then upload to AT for approval or decline.
It’s a one-off $70 fee, and once approved, a card for life.
We take Visa, Debit card or cash only, no eftpos is available
Please provide a form of ID (A Super Gold card is fine)
From approval it takes approximately 10 working days to arrive in the post, with instructions and a list of taxi companies.

Arrive at 14 Erson Ave, turn left coming into drive
